  • A TYPICAL SIDS Problem,
    PRESENTS AN EXTRAORDINARY GLOBAL opportunity

Barbados is a Caribbean island with a strong track record in the tourism industry as the island's primary economic driver for the past 20 years. Unfortunately, under the previous administration's ten year tenure, the island suffered significant economic decline, including several rating agency downgrades. Fortunately, the tourism sector remained strong amid the weakened economy. Barbados has a well established reputation as a luxury and upscale tourism destination. We intend to leverage that reputation and develop a new tourism product as the FOUNDATION for other multi-sectoral real estate projects, all strategically designed to drive renewed and sustainable economic development in Barbados.

The new administration led by Barbados' first female Prime Minister, the Honourable Mia Mottley, has taken a very aggressive approach since taking office, embracing new levels of transparency, a commitment to sustainability leadership and a focus on leveraging advanced technology with a vision to make Barbados the "Smart Island" of the Caribbean over the next 5 to 10 years. They are committed to supporting the local and international private sector who are willing to invest in projects aligned with the administration's economic transformation agenda.

Despite a land mass of just 166 square miles, Barbados has long garnered a reputation for "punching above its weight". Barbados may be "down" on the proverbial canvas economically speaking, but it is far from being "out". Smart investors know that major problems and adversity are the raw materials of extraordinary opportunity to solve those problems and derive major value from doing so. Barbados is still very much a "diamond in the rough" in terms of its true economic development potential and we here at SM@RT are identifying the opportunities and developing a strategic plan to facilitate the seizing of those opportunities by a global consortium of Innovators, Donors, Purchasers, Investors and Supporters.

The SM@RT BARBADOS Sustainable Economic Development Initiative is perfectly positioned to facilitate all aspects of the physical development vision of the newly-elected Barbados government, while going well beyond to directly develop multiple underperforming sectors of the Barbados economy. NB. The initiative is a totally independent private sector initiative created by a politically neutral, Barbadian-owned US company and as such, the SM@RT BARBADOS initiative is NOT currently endorsed or directly facilitated by the Barbados Government.

  • 3 YEARS IN THE MAKING : FROM JAN 2016

SM@RT BARBADOS is a carefully laid plan and foundation for facilitating Transformative and Sustainable Economic Growth for Barbados and Significant Economic Empowerment for Supporting Investors, Technical and Sectoral Advisory Partners, as well as the Everyday Citizens of Barbados, including the country's low-income population.

NB. SM@RT BARBADOS IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY POLITICAL ORGANIZATION IN BARBADOS.
We will work with any ethical Barbadian individual, company, or institution irrespective of their political party affiliation (stated or not), as long as we believe that they genuinely desire to help accelerate economic recovery and transformation in Barbados.

In harmony with our SM@RT BARBADOS agenda and plan, which was conceived well over two years before the recent change in government, the new Barbados government has recently launched an initiative called "Vision 2020 - We Gathering", appealing to Barbadian expats and friends of Barbados, to get involved in the rebuilding of the Barbados economy through strategic investment. Due to our company's three years of focused development work starting in Q1 2016, SM@RT BARBADOS is the first serious and viable plan for aggressive accelerated economic development in Barbados, that fully matches and quite likely exceeds, the international response objectives and expectations that were defined for government's Vision 2020 initiative.

Our "Holistic Consortium Approach" to economic development in Small Island Developing States is unprecedented, but we are very confident that it is a superior approach, one that makes it possible to re-engineer the Barbados economy from being a group of siloed sectoral operations, to being a highly integrated and complimentary group of economic drivers, managed collectively like a production plant's multiple components, capable of delivering vastly superior levels and speed of economic growth, akin to the thrust performance of a finely tuned space shuttle rocket engine.

We invite all entities seeking major economic opportunity in small island developing states like Barbados, to seriously consider the SM@RT BARBADOS Sustainable Economic Development Initiative and Engagement Framework, as an ideal on-ramp to collaborative, highly risk-mitigated engagement and investment within the Barbados economy.
